  • ,

Hafizabad is located in Punjab Province of Pakistan 100 km from Lahore. Having a population of approximately 4 million who do not have any access to mental health services in their area. In case of any psychiatric problem they have to be on the mercy of non-professionals. Epilepsy is surprisingly very much prevalent in the area and due to lack of competent care was hurting a chronic and incredible cause.

In May 30, 1997 MIND set up a free psychiatric clinic at the District Hospital Hafizabad with the collaboration of District authorities and an NGO Bunyad. In no time the fortnightly psychiatric camp reached the toll of 600 patients per camp. In the year 2009 on August 01, MIND shifted its charity clinic from DHQ to District Office of Bunyad Foundation in village Chenay near Hafizabad.

Working of MIND

Since 1997, the MIND team visit Hafizabad on every alternate Saturdays to provide consultation and medicines free of cost. Moreover, psycho education about the illness to patients and families is also provided. In addition the need for referral of patients to tertiary care centers in Lahore is also assessed and the needful is done as early as possible.
